Loop band
A closed rubber resistance band used around the legs or arms for activation and mobility work. Bands are rated by colour, but resistance varies between brands.
A loop band is a continuous ring of rubber, typically looped around the thighs, ankles, or wrists, used for glute activation, lateral steps, and general mobility or warm-up work rather than as a primary strength tool. It requires no anchor point and rolls up small enough to fit in a drawer or travel bag.
For an apartment gym, loop bands are near the top of the list for cost and space efficiency, since a full set of several resistance levels still weighs almost nothing and takes up almost no room, unlike a stack of plates or a bulky machine.
When buying, check the material, since fabric bands tend to hold their tension and shape longer than thin latex ones, and look at width, since wider bands generally sit more comfortably during use. Bands are commonly color coded by resistance, but that scale is not standardized, so the same color can be lighter or heavier depending on the brand. A common mistake is continuing to use a band well past visible wear, which is a common cause of a band snapping mid-set.
