Kettlebell
A cast iron or steel weight shaped like a ball with a handle, used for swings, presses and carries that combine strength and cardio in one tool.
A kettlebell is a single weighted ball with a handle on top, used for swinging, pressing, and carrying movements that blend strength and cardio in ways a standard dumbbell handle does not allow as easily. Fixed kettlebells are one solid piece per weight, while adjustable kettlebells use a dial or pin similar to adjustable dumbbells.
For an apartment, a single kettlebell can cover swings, goblet squats, presses, and carries, which means one compact object replaces what might otherwise require several separate pieces of equipment, all while stacking neatly on the floor or in a closet corner.
When buying, check handle width and texture, since a rough or too-thin handle affects grip during swings, and confirm the base sits flat for stability if you plan to use it for floor-based presses. A common mistake is buying a single kettlebell too light to challenge swings and carries for long, or choosing an adjustable version with a locking mechanism that feels loose under the ballistic motion of a swing. Renting or borrowing a weight to test before buying can help you settle on a starting weight that lasts.
